About Us
MIKE BERTRAM, PRESIDENT
Mike's 24 of his 26 business years have been spent in management of some kind. His last
seven-year experience was as General Manager of a national third party accounts receivable firm responsible for
client receivables of over 25,000 files valued at over $600 million. Throughout his management career he has shown
an aptitude for management work plans and strategies that have ensured his employers an historical rise to the
forefront of their industry. His ideas have improved the recoveries of various high profile Canadian credit grantors
as well as Governments, Municipalities and other locally based credit grantors. His ideas and strategies are still
commonplace within the Canadian collection management industry.
Mike brings to SPI over 24 years of general management, including over 20 years of business and accounts receivable
management with years between of related industry and educational knowledge. His experience in management, risk
assessment and debt recovery is all encompassing and includes a good working and practical knowledge of business
and employee related legislation (Trade Practices, Employment Standards, etc.
MAX BERTRAM, VICE PRESIDENT
Max begin his management career as a food and beverage controller/auditor for a major Vancouver
hotel. Based on his work exposure coupled with post secondary accounting education he created Bertram Consulting
Services as his vehicle to offer bookkeeping and administration support as well as basic accounting and small business
management skills to Lower Mainland small businesses. Some of his management experiences include implementing
leading edge restaurant customer ordering technology, structuring and managing an international courier's branch
offices, opening and managing offices across Western Canada for a large computer company and a long-term contract
for Transport Canada. Max has traveled and worked all over the world and has been exposed to a wide variety of
industries and business practices. Max is fluent in French and German and is an active volunteer for a local community
based family resource centre.
Max adds 18 years in management to SPI including almost 12 years in the financial aspect of business management
and the basic accounting procedures and policies required in today's business or governmental relationships and
accounting practices. Max has also designed various administrational support systems to ensure the smooth operation
of the business.
